My name is Nicola Lawrence and I am the author of “The Dao of Harmony Dawn Cooking- Innovative and Acclaimed Spa Cuisine” which has just been published from First Choice Publishing this April 2007. The book is absolutely beautiful! I could not be happier. It was designed by a professional designer and artist named Sharyn Buchanan. Working with Shy and his team at First Choice Publishing, was a dream, for both Sharyn and I. They all were extremely nice, client driven, actually speaking to me personally, returning my phone calls, always assuring me of a great final product, and - this is big, could speak to my designer in technical terms, always answering her questions about the file and how we could make it easy for them as well.  

They were what they say they are….. a client driven company and really nice people as well! How hard is that to find in this day and age. In fact I had originally approached a couple of other self publishing companies and actually had a contract with one, a so called industry leader in Canada. They could not have been nastier and unhelpful, they never responded to my calls, blatantly ignoring me and Sharyn, when we were just trying to make it easier for them.  They also weren’t a bindery, meaning they did not understand printing, Sharyn and I were so frustrated, we actually had to completely redesign a finished book because we were given wrong information. Believe me when I say, my designer covers all the bases so we were both shocked at how negligent they were in there documentation and communication.  

The beauty of First Choice Publishing, is they are also a bindery. They know glue, they know laminating, they know paper and by they way it is the best paper, acid free and a recycled 60 lb stock, you won’t find that anywhere else. I am sure of it, you should see my book. My designer Sharyn was pulling out her hair dealing with the other company. She also was blown away by First Choice’s service, and her standards are very high. They really went out of their way for my project and all the while I was able to speak directly to them. I am already working on my next book and possibly a third and they will be my publisher. Feel free to contact me if you need me to convince you further.

Thank you so much for all your help assisting me to publish my first book.  The quality is really great and considerably superior to many of the self-published books I've seen spat out by the other big self-publishing company.  The fact you have 17 years printing & book binding experience and that you are a local Victoria business really reflects in your service and quality.  Last week Jim Munro took my book on consignment at Munro's books and he said he does not usually take self-published books because the quality is not good enough, so that is proof of your high standards.  Well done and keep up the good work, your price is so great I've already covered the cost of printing and make 100% profit every time a book sells now!  Much better than those vanity presses that charge the author to buy their own book!  I'll be spreading news.
